Our Youth Football programme caters for players 13-19 years of age. Players are separated into their own age groups (i.e. 13th, 14th, 15th, 17th Grade) and compete in games every Saturday against other club teams in various locations around Christchurch. Team selection occurs through a trials process at the beginning of every season. You must be registered to Nomads in order to be placed into a team. If you do not trial you will still be placed into a team (provided you are registered).
Our volunteer coaches will run training sessions at times that best suit their schedules. Once players have been placed into teams the coaches will be in touch to communicate things such as training times, training venues, etc.
The Youth Football age groups are within the Game Training Phase of skill development. The Game Training Phase focuses on taking the core skills developed during the Skill Acquisition Phase (Junior Football) and learning how to apply them within a team environment. This phase introduces 11v11 football to prepare the players for the senior game. Nomads players will be made aware of their specific tasks to help the team perform during each moment with the focus on the development of the individual. Our trainings will resemble the game as much as possible so that our players are able to execute what they have learnt during training when playing.
The club relies on volunteer parents/coaches to manage the majority of our teams. If you are able to help out please email
