Our Junior Football programme caters for players 9-12 years of age. Players are separated into their own age groups (i.e. 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th Grade) and compete in games every Saturday against other club teams in various locations around Christchurch. Team selection occurs through a trials process at the beginning of every season. You must be registered with Nomads in order to be placed into a team. If you register but do not trial you will still be placed into a team (provided you are registered).
Our volunteer coaches will run training sessions at times that best suit their schedules. Once players have been placed into teams the coaches will be in touch to communicate things such as training times, training venues, etc.
The Junior Football age groups are within the Skill Acquisition Phase. During this time players are generally well balanced, coordinated and adaptive to learning motor skills. This is the ‘Golden Age’ of motor learning. In no other phase of life will motor learning happen faster. The Skill Acquisition Phase is the optimal time to focus on developing football skill which is essential for long-term participation in football. All Nomads trainings and games will emphasize on learning football skills within the context of the game.
The club relies on volunteer parents/coaches to manage the majority of our teams. If you are able to help out please email
