PREMIER MENS

The Nomads Premier Men’s programme competes in the South Island League — the highest level of men’s football in the South Island, and the Canterbury Premier League, the top domestic competition in Canterbury.

The 2025 season marked a significant milestone for the club, with Nomads achieving our highest-ever Southern League finish and reaching the English Cup Final for the first time in 17 years. These achievements reflect the continued progress of our senior programme and the strength of our football pathway.

For the 2026 season, we are pleased to retain Director of Football Matt Jansen as Southern League Head Coach, alongside Football Development Officer Atticus Jones as Canterbury Premier League Head Coach. Together, they provide strong leadership and a clear football identity across both teams.

Matt has assembled a high-quality coaching staff for 2026, focused on creating a positive, inclusive, and high-performance environment. The objective is not only to compete at the highest level, but also to consistently develop players capable of progressing within the club and beyond.

Nomads has a proud history of promoting youth players into our senior teams. We believe a clear and accessible pathway is essential for long-term player development, and our senior teams reflect this philosophy, with many young players successfully transitioning from our Academy. All teams are aligned in playing a positive, attractive style of football that is central to the Nomads identity.

In recent years, numerous players have progressed through our system and moved on to opportunities such as US college scholarships, the Wellington Phoenix Academy, and professional environments overseas — a testament to the quality of our development programme.

If you are interested in being involved with the Nomads Premier Men’s programme, please contact Matt Jansen on 027 359 5795 or via email at dof@nomadsafc.org.
