Nomads United AFC is fortunate to have secured the services of James Pendrigh for the 2023 season who can offer individual football sessions as well as individual strength & conditioning sessions for our members!
A bit about James:
James has played at the highest level in NZ Football and has extensive experience in the game having also come through the America College system, and played professionally in Sweden and Finland. James is the current strength & conditioning coach for the Nomads Mens first team and Academy teams.
James holds the following qualifications:
Level 5 Diploma in Sports Management
Level 4 Health and Fitness – New Zealand Institute of Sport (NZIS)
Ex Canterbury United - National League player
Ex D1 College player - Drake University, University of Dayton,
Ex NPL 1 player – Lambton Jaffa’s
Ex Stodè if player (Sweden)
Ex EIF player (Finland)
Individual Strength & Conditioning Programme:
The physical development of a player is an integral part of their development as a player and as an athlete. James Pendrigh will be offering the players within Nomads United individualised S&C sessions/S&C programs. The programs and sessions with be approached holistically, while being individualised and tailored to the player for their specific needs, goals and playing position.
“As someone who has spent several years playing at a high level within football, I understand the importance of strength and conditioning for performance. I have been lucky enough to work alongside some of the best strength and conditioning coaches and sports scientists in the world to date (Shaun Owens - Boston Red Socks, Jarrod Chaot - Crusaders). I’ll bring my extensive knowledge and experience to young footballers, to help develop personalised S&C plans/sessions that address their specific needs and goals.
Whether you’re looking to increase your speed, build strength, or improve your overall performance on the field, it will always be in relation to your position and overall playing needs. I have the expertise to help within the context of football, with a focus on technique, strength for functional movement and injury prevention.”
What is included:
Their will be an initial consultation to assess the athletes current physical condition, a program will then be put in place (whether that be a program they do on their own or individual sessions that will be TBD until the first consultation), a walk through of one of the sessions on their program or face to face 1 on 1 sessions and constant accessible support throughout the duration of the program.

Nomads United is excited to announce that we will now be providing personalised 1-on-1 football training sessions for players delivered by James Pendrigh. The sessions are designed to cater to each player's position, strengths, and weaknesses. By providing individualised football training sessions, we aim to provide players with the opportunity to refine specific areas of their game that may not be addressed in team sessions. This tailored approach will enable our players to receive the right extra training to improve their skills and reach their full potential as a footballer.
"As a dedicated coach with years of playing experience at the professional level and having coached in the 1 on 1 space for 3 years now, I am passionate about helping young players reach their full potential on the field. I have previously coached a large number of players, of all different positions in the 1 on 1 space, with a lot of the players being in professional academy environments. Whatever part of your game you are looking to develop in relation to your position, I have the knowledge and expertise to help you get there. With a customised football training plan tailored to your individual needs and goals, we will work together to take your game to the next level and turn weaknesses into strengths."
